About this notice

This notice covers hijoseromero.com, the website for Jose Romero's videos, articles and projects. “We” and “us” mean the operator of this website. Other services you visit through our links have their own privacy policies.

You can read the site without creating an account. For a privacy question or request, choose General on the contact form.

Website visits and analytics

Vercel hosts this website. Delivering pages and protecting the service involves processing connection information such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information and request time. Hosting and security logs are separate from audience statistics.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages people find useful. Its statistics can include page visits, referring sites, browser and device type, and approximate location. Vercel describes this analytics service as cookie-free, using a short-lived identifier instead of tracking people across sites. We do not send email messages or contact details as analytics events.

See Vercel's analytics privacy information and Vercel's privacy notice.

Contact and email

The contact form asks for your name, reply email address, message and a topic: General or Business. Our server on Vercel processes the submission and sends it to our Fastmail inbox. We use these details to read and respond to your message, handle your request and maintain relevant correspondence. Submitting the form does not subscribe you to email updates. We do not sell contact messages or use them for targeted advertising.

Cloudflare Turnstile checks browser and connection signals to help prevent automated spam. This can involve information such as your IP address and browser characteristics. The server verifies the result before accepting your message. We also use request limits and form validation to protect the service. Messages are delivered through Fastmail rather than stored in a website database.

See Cloudflare's privacy policy, its Turnstile privacy information, Vercel's privacy notice and Fastmail's privacy policy. If the spam check is unavailable, the contact page lists other ways to connect. Please do not send passwords, payment details or identity documents, or put sensitive information in a public comment.

Videos, subscriptions and affiliate links

  • YouTube: articles contain embedded YouTube players. Loading a page with a player can connect your browser to Google/YouTube, which can receive technical information and use cookies or similar technologies. Watching a video is subject to Google's privacy policy.
  • Substack: subscription buttons take you to Substack, which handles signup and delivery. We do not collect email subscriptions through a form on this website. As the publisher, we receive subscriber information to manage the publication. Substack's privacy policy explains its own processing. Use the unsubscribe link in a subscription email to stop receiving updates.
  • Affiliate links: some product links include a referral identifier. Clicking them takes you to another service, such as Amazon, which may use cookies or other technologies to attribute purchases. Its own privacy notice applies there. See Amazon's privacy notice. We may earn a commission; clicking an affiliate link does not send us your payment details.

You can control cookies and third-party content in your browser. Blocking them may affect embedded videos or contact verification. The site currently does not change its behavior in response to a browser's Do Not Track signal. External services may collect information about your activity over time and across services under their own policies.

Access, retention and security

We use the providers named above to operate the site, protect it, handle correspondence and deliver subscription emails. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate abuse or protect legal rights. Providers may process information in countries other than yours.

We keep correspondence while it is useful for your request or an ongoing business relationship, and when needed for records, legal obligations or disputes. Provider logs, analytics and backups follow their respective settings and retention practices. You can ask us to delete correspondence we control; some information may need to be retained for those reasons.

We use reasonable safeguards, but no website, email system or method of transmission is completely secure.

Your choices and requests

Choose General on the contact form to ask about information we hold about you, request access, correction or deletion, or raise an objection. Depending on applicable law, you may have additional rights, including a copy of your information or an appeal of a request decision. Tell us what you need; we may ask for enough information to verify that the request is yours.

If a request is declined, you can ask us to reconsider through the same channel. You can also contact the privacy regulator responsible for your location. Information controlled independently by YouTube, Substack or another service may require a request directly to that service.

Children and updates

This is a general-audience technology website, not a service directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has sent us personal information so we can address it.

We will update this page and its revision date when our practices change. Material changes will also be highlighted on this page. This notice describes our practices; it does not replace any rights you have under applicable law.
